An inventive and dynamic musician and the founder of collectif9, double bassist Thibault Bertin-Maghit finds his inspiration anywhere from heavy metal to early music. Relocating from France to Montreal in 2004 and completing his Masters in Music Performance at the Université de Montréal, Thibault has performed in chamber music and orchestra festivals and academies in Canada, the USA, England, Finland, Norway, France, Austria and Spain. A jack-of-all-trades, Thibault can be seen on stage with Tafelmusik, Pallade Musica and new music ensembles, or found working tirelessly on new arrangements for collectif9. He could once be found playing piano, drums, or bass in indie rock or heavy metal bands – a remnant of his past life – but the present finds Thibault dreaming up new projects and collaborations for the future of collectif9.

Geneviève heads the operations of SOCAN in Quebec. Among her core objectives is to raise awareness around copyright among Québec influencers, while overseeing SOCAN’s reproduction rights management of visual artists such as painters, photographers, and sculptors. Geneviève also ensures that SOCAN has a Québec presence at events, forums and gatherings in the creative industry key sectors. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in the Québec entertainment scene, where she has divided her time between television production, artist management, music publishing, and music production and promotion. Geneviève currently sits on the Board of Directors of Caisse de la Culture, Polaris Music Prize and Unison Benevolent Fund. She holds a law degree from the University of Ottawa.

Since 2010, he is deeply involved in a variety of political reflections on the digital challenges of our culture. Nick Maturo holds an M.A. in Communications Studies from McGill University and a B.F.A. in Electroacoustic Studies from Concordia University. His ongoing research considers musician labour and the role of institutions within the rapidly evolving field of online music distribution.

As an artist, Nick has been active in Montréal’s experimental music community for over ten years and has performed at the Suoni Per Il Popolo and MUTEK festivals. More recently, he has released music with record labels such as Orange Milk Records and Never Anything Records.

Nick currently serves as a Research Coordinator with the English Language Arts Network (ELAN), assisting artists and arts organizations in accessing funding in Quebec.

Victoria Novak is an associate at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP. Her practice focuses on all aspects of the film and television industries, as well as music, new media and other arts industries.

She worked with the Amati Ensemble and subsequently worked for 13 years for record labels. She has been the President of InTempo Musique since August 2016 and works as a consultant for independent artists, companies and organizations in the music industry (Metamusique, Ministère de la Culture et des Communications, La Vitrine Culturelle).

Barbara Scales is the founder and President of Latitude 45 Arts Promotion, Inc. established in 1981 and based in Montreal. She works with artists who perform at the highest level, displaying creativity, engagement and courage. An internationalist by principal, her company represents artists from Australia, Japan, Korea, Iran, Israel, Mexico, Argentina, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, South Africa, the United States and Canada.

Ms Scales studied philosophy with a Master’s thesis on “What does it mean to say that art belongs to its time?” The question is fundamental to her work with creative musicians.

Originally from New York City, Barbara Scales made Montreal her home in 1968. Since 2014, she has been President of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Music Centre in Quebec. She has served for over 25 years on the national board of the Canadian Music Centre. She has also served as an officer on the boards of CINARS, NAPAMA, ISPA and presided the first IAMA conference outside of Europe, in 2013.

Creator for impact Damián Siqueiros uses art to create positive narratives that lead to healing socio-ecological environments through empathic visual storytelling.

Siqueiros’ work covers a wide range of media including photography, installation, video art, art direction and education.

Performing arts are a core element of his work almost since the beginning of his career. Performance has become a language expressed through photography that allows him to address complex issues through emotive abstract movement. Siqueiros has collaborated with talented choreographers such as Sidi Larbi, Margie Gillis, Kyra Jean Green, Andrew Skeels and companies such Danse Danse and Les Grands Ballets de Montréal.

Damián has participated in more than 60 exhibitions in Canada and internationally, notably in Washington D.C, at the Art Museum of the Americas, Miami at the Frost Museum, Mexico, South Korea at the MMCA Goyang Residency, Toronto, Montreal and New York at the prestigious Tambaran gallery.

Siqueiros is currently working on Terra Sapiens, an “art for environmental regeneration” vision with thought-provoking artistic representations of a viable future that nurtures symbiotic natural, human, collaborative and developmental environments.
